Here are some new classes and workshops I am doing this year:
Video courses at Skillfeed.com: Understanding Black-and-White Photography, Success with Winter Photography. These courses can be accessed at any time, at your convenience, and watched as much as needed. Understanding Black-and-White Photography gives you the basics needed to master black-and-white photography and truly understand that black-and-white photography is not the removal of color from a color image. Success with Winter Photography includes a lot of ideas about getting the most from photographing in the winter, from subject matter to light to exposure to dealing with the conditions.
Workshops at Palm Beach Photographic Centre in March: Creating the Photo E-Book and Landscape Photography and Lightroom. Creating the Photo E-book is a hands-on class that gets students involved in making their own photo e-books, something I think all photographers need to start looking at. Landscape Photography and Lightroom is one of my favorite classes where we look at how to work a landscape to bring out its best both as we shoot and by applying traditional darkroom techniques in Lightroom.
New class at BetterPhoto.com: Flower Photography from Snapshot to Great Shot. This is a monthly web-based course that is limited to the main times of flowering. It starts in March and includes lessons, assignments and critiques. The course goes way beyond macro lenses and includes getting the most from flower portraits and flower landscapes.
Speaking of flowers, I am also doing my annual Springtime Flowers and Lightroom workshop in Central California at Light Photographic Workshops. This is a five-day class that includes shooting in some wonderful flower locations (though you can never predict exactly what will be blooming), honest and encouraging critiques, plus solid, guided practice in Lightroom. Springtime Flowers and Lightroom starts April 24.
